
Neng Wang 王能, PhD
Neng Wang is the Chong Khoon Lin Professor of Real Estate and Finance at Columbia Business School. He is also the Honorary Dean and the Academic Director of the School of Finance at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE). Dr. Wang has also been elected as a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). Dr. Wang was also a Special Term Professor at Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) and the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.
Professor Wang’s research interests include private equity, hedge funds, asset allocation, investor protection, household finance, macroeconomics, real estate finance, and the Chinese capital market. His work has been widely published in leading economics and finance journals such as the American Economic Review, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Finance and the Review of Financial Studies. Among other awards and honors, he won a Smith-Breeden Distinguished Paper Prize awarded by the Journal of Finance in 2008 and and the Carr and Stephanie Distinguished Scholar Award. He currently serves as Co-Editor for Frontiers of Economics in China and the Finance Research Letters. Dr. Wang has also served as associate editor for the Journal of Finance, Management Science, the Journal of Mathematical Econoimcs and the Macroeconomic Dynamics. He is also a recipient of the “Thousand Talents Program”, one of the most prestigious awards granted by the Chinese central government.
He received a Ph.D. in Finance from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, a M.S. in Chemistry from California Institute of Technology (Caltech), a M.A. in International Relations and Pacific Studies from University of California, San Diego and a B.S. in Physical Chemistry from Nanjing University, China.
