Tzee-Man Chow, MFE

Tzee is a Director in the Research group, performing research in support of the firm’s asset allocation and global equity strategies, with a specialization in portfolio construction, performance monitoring, and risk management.

Tzee has over a decade of experience in launching and managing systematic equity strategies. In his prior role as Head of Equities Strategy Research at Research Affiliates, Tzee successfully led his team in delivering a full suite of investment research solutions, including product design, robust backtesting, and portfolio implementation. In addition, Tzee led his team in providing analytics, branding, and research support for all of Research Affiliates systematic equity products, including the firm’s active products, contributing to strategies totaling over US$150 billion in AUM as of 2022 Q1. Tzee oversaw a number of successful product launches during his time at Research Affiliates, from families of factor strategies to ESG/climate transition portfolios, as well as bespoke solutions.

In addition to success as an investment manager, Tzee has published original research recognized across the industry and winning a number of prestigious awards. In 2011, Tzee and his co-authors were awarded a Graham and Dodd Scroll from the Financial Analysts Journal, followed by the Bernstein Fabozzi/Jacobs Levy Award for Outstanding Article in 2014 and the Award for Best Article in 2017 from the Journal of Portfolio Management.

Tzee earned a Master of Financial Engineering from UCLA Anderson School of Management, as well as a M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, both from the University of California, San Diego.
